550d and Video

Hi all,
If you have a 550d could you tell me how much video it will record on full HD and on what size card please.
I remember being told somewhere that it will only record in 18 min segments, something to do with tax and the camera not then being classed as a camcorder????
Also how many shots you get in L and L+RAW and what size card would be useful.
