Hi guys I have been thinking about adding the Nikon AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR to my collection to work with my nikon d7100. Just woundering if anyone has had any experience with this lens or have any other recommendations.

Great lens, very sharp. Pretty heavy though.

I am a Canon user myself, but from my experience of the Nikon lenses in the past, I don't think you have any concerns. They are excellent lenses. That one sounds like a cracker.
Cheers

Am planning to buy one to replace my Tamron 100-400. I used it with a D5600 and it was as if someone had left a vaseline filter on the front element - I ended up using my Nikon 70-200 and enlarging the images, rather than use the Tamron pictures. Whether Nikon optimises its cameras to work better with its own lenses, i can't say, but all the reviews of the 200-500 suggest it is a good investment. I hope to find out on Cobra Warrior.
