Criticism on Canon 7D II with Sigma 150-600mm

Post by tayloss » Mon Jun 24, 2019 9:40 am

Hi All,

I'm after some criticism on the photos on my Flickr account and if I can improve them somehow! This is the first time out with this combination and had some tough times with the weather and sky etc..

RIAT is coming up and want to make sure I get the best out of the equipment and editing...

Have a look here: https://www.flickr.com/gp/chrisbloy/22U09S

I am very critical of myself.. but I'd like a few others too look as my wife never says a bad thing about any of my work!

Thanks,
Chris :ninja:

I have the same combo although I've not used it in anger yet. I'm being told the that F8 is the sweet spot on the lens so maybe work with that in mind as I notice that a few of your shots are at F14.

Hi chaps, i use this lens on my Nikon D7200 and ive found that higher shutter speeds helps a lot with the overall sharpness of the image, i found that shutter speeds between 1/1600-1/2000 is perfect for crystal sharp images, obviously this only an option when your shooting jets. Also i'm not sure what versions you both have but with sports variant ive been told that using a higher aperture doesn't really affect the image quality, but I'm happy to be corrected.

Thanks Mark... I'll maybe look at that for RIAT... Trying to balance the TV/AV/ISO is the challenge.. It wasn't the best day weather wise as mentioned above..

That's fine for jets, but its the slower aircraft that I think is going to take some practice... I had some models hanging from the sky, but I tried to get the props showing motion.. :-)

Its the comptempoary version as the sports was just a little to heavy for a days shooting..
