Canon 300 f4 IS

Post by Aquila » Thu Nov 26, 2009 7:49 am

Just picked this lens up, and whilst I haven't had the chance to get "out there" yet, I have taken a few shots around the garden etc, and noticed that, apart from the slightly noisy IS (which is the same on my other canon IS lenses) there is a little bit of AF noise, kind of clacking noise particularly when moving from a near subject to a far one. Seems to be in sync with the range indicator dial moving around inside the barrel (lens seems quick and accurate, and IQ so far is looking v good) Just wondering if other Canon users have experienced this, and is it normal?

I've got this lens & mine sounds the same. Nothing to worry about, i think alot of them sound like that. You'll get used to it. Its a great lens, really fast & sharp.
