Lumix FZ200 Bridge Camera
Does anyone have one of these cameras and use it for your Aviation hobby - what are your settings please?

Re: Lumix FZ200 Bridge Camera
I used to have an FZ200. It was some years ago but as I remember for flying shots I mainly used the Sport mode which worked fine giving high shutter speeds.
However the exposure did need some adjustment. In bright sunshine I need to set -1/3 or even -2/3. And in dull conditions +1/3 definitely helped.
I got some great results with it. I later upgraded to an FZ1000 but now have a Sony RX10M4. That is a great camera.
Hope this helps.

I think it's more a case of people remaining silent rather than wishing to appear rude.
You really need a DSLR or mirrorless with a larger sensor for aviation.
Unless your happy with record shots of course, in which case I'm sure the FZ200 is fine.

Can you explain how the sensor size helps?B58Hustler wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 4:18 amI think it's more a case of people remaining silent rather than wishing to appear rude.

You seriously don't know the answer to this?sdad wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 7:36 amCan you explain how the sensor size helps?B58Hustler wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 4:18 amI think it's more a case of people remaining silent rather than wishing to appear rude.

Hi. I have had Panasonic bridge cameras for many years. They are good for photography and also video work. I have had great results, especially following advice from the guides by Graham Houghton. I now have an FZ82 and that is brilliant. Yes, it is no replacement for a high-end DSLR but a lot cheaper. I apologise on behalf of some of the less than friendly and unhelpful replies to your question.
Best regards

I am experimenting doing the same. Still getting to grips with it. I have always enjoyed and got on well with Panasonic kit.nugget20 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 9:58 amI used to have an FZ200. Correct. Why should I know? I am interested in a user's practical answer, although a theoretical one would do.B58Hustler wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 5:04 pmYou seriously don't know the answer to this?sdad wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 7:36 amCan you explain how the sensor size helps?B58Hustler wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 4:18 amI think it's more a case of people remaining silent rather than wishing to appear rude.

In addition to Nugget20's recommendations, I would suggest that you try to keep the ISO as low as possible - ideally ISO100 - to maximise image quality.nugget20 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 29, 2025 9:58 amI used to have an FZ200. If the FZ200 is what you have got then great: the best camera for you is always the one you have! However, it is quite an old design now and advances in camera technology over the past decade have been massive, so if you can afford to upgrade, you will surely get benefits. Whether that upgrade is to a newer bridge camera or entering the world of mirrorless is up to your personal preferences, it's a trade off between cost, portability, image quality etc.
As for why full frame is 'better' than smaller sensors then I recommend this article:

Hope this helps - above all, enjoy your photography!

Re: Lumix FZ200 Bridge Camera
I think my comment was misunderstood.
Or I didn’t make it clear.
When I said Mirrorless with larger sensor I meant larger than a bridge camera!
A bridge camera is still Mirrorless.
A ‘crop’ sensor Mirrorless (APS-C) would be absolutely fine.
Hope this clarifies.
