Hello all, I have recently bought a secondhand Calumet CK7075 tripod gimbal head. It's in extremely good condition and came with a nice long Arca Swiss mounting plate. I aim to use it for wildlife photography with my Nikon D500, 200-500 lens and occasionally a 1.4x converter.
It's perfectly usable as it is, but the panning base and swivel arm are a little on the stiff side and would certainly benefit from freeing up a bit. I aim to dismantle the head, clean out the existing lubricant and replace it with something perhaps of a lighter viscosity. Trouble is, I'm not sure what I should be replacing it with!
I've seen YouTube videos of people replacing the lubricant in new gimbal heads, mainly Neewer brand, but they seem to be mainly US-based and the presenters don't make clear what lubricant they are using.
Has any member replaced the lubricant on a gimbal head, and if so, what type of lubricant did you use?
Cheers.

Tripod gimbal head lubricant question
Re: Tripod gimbal head lubricant question
i would have thought a light brush coat of a "molycote" grease would be fine ??
Re: Tripod gimbal head lubricant question
Thanks for that, I'll check it out. Also looked at Carlube lithium grease. I didn't know you could get so many different kinds of grease!
