It's that shop again! Tomorrow (Thur 29th Oct) Aldi will be flogging Digital Film Scanners for £39.99,
Don't know what they're like, might be worth a punt for that price? ;)

Does not look a bad bit of kit. i have seen the same type of this selling for over double that price.
plus you get a very good warranty on all of Aldis electrical goods.

Did anybody manage to get one of these scanners, they've all vanished from my local?

What's the problem with them Flaps (apart from obviously being cheap & cheerful)? :)

I wouldn't take the risk of spending money on something like that without reading reviews of it first,I made the mistake of spending £80 on a slide/negative scanner a few months back which I really wasn't happy with.I then read lots of reviews about it and most of them agreed with me !!

Maybe my comment was a bit OTT,but just make sure you know what your buying first :thumb:

*Insert copious bad language here*

Having paid £55 for the model about on Ebay only a couple of weeks ago, I'm slightly annoyed now! :(

I hear what you're saying Mike, obviously you get what you pay for, the more you spend the better your chances. But sometimes you can get lucky, pick something up very cheap and it turns out to be just the ticket for you. I've used a Dimage Scan Dual III for the last five years now, cost me about £350 and it has given me sterling service, it has been superceded umpteen times and now is showing it's age, insomuch that it is slowing up and is very inefficient. Over the years that I've bought from Aldi, I have never been let down by their goods - Aldi's three year warranty shows their confidence. I'm not saying that their digital filmscanner is the Bees Knees, but for under £40 it's got to be worth a punt - especially "if" the results from it are as good as my old scanner. ;)

Failing that I could always flog it on E-bay for £55! (Sorry Chris  )

It's basically a 5mp camera and some LEDs.
I have a similar one I paid about £50 for. Quality depends on how well exposed the slide is and in some cases, like white or light coloured aircraft it just bleaches the details out.
That ArcSoft software it comes bundled with is real nasty as well.

Still, may be worth a go for the price.
