Morning

The main drag down from Seville passes the base, although it is some way off the road. You can stop about a mile short near a river which has a rough layby. The view onto the base needs a scope or good binos. On my visit a year ago Typhoons were up most of the PM, USAF KC10s (3) were parked up and a Spanish AF 707 was doing rollers. I went expecting little and ended up having a good afternoon. Good hunting!

...and then again you could be lucky. Six of us were there back in September 2006 (after the Typhoons had arrived), and were standing around the MPV ( wondering whether to wait for the heat haze to die down or to push off) about 1 mile west of the fence line, near the old railway building, when a security chap in his pick-up came out. This'll be interesting we thought. Anyway he could speak less English than we could Spanish, but the gist of his sign language was that we should stop wandering around, get back in the vehicle, so that they knew where we were, and then, providing we stayed in the vehicle, we could do our own thing. We then spent an hour driving up and down the western fence line reading off the Typhoons in the sun sheds without being bothered. Maybe it was because we had our other halves with us, but it was the start of a great weekend. We got asked to move on at Seville and had a chat through the fence with the security at Colmenar, but even then it was all relaxed and generally good humoured.
Of course, things could have changed in the intervening years.....

Viewing is possible at Moron from a network of farm tracks which run through surrounding olive groves/roads, be mindful of ground conditions during or after wet weather. There is a group of spotters/toggers from Seville and surrounding area who frequently visit moron, If you stay more than 250 meters from fence its OK.

What about photography??

Generally not a problem so long as you stay away from the fence and don't photograph the base itself or personel.

Is the USMC still based there with Ospreys? And if so, any recent logs? Been there early 2017, so hopefully they swapped them.

We had no difficulties with spotting, just keep a distance from the fence. And low profile. But no Guardia Civil, or Police encounters.

I went there a few years ago, no flying that day and heat haze got in the way of mid day logging, but was with family so couldn't stay until things started cooling done . will definitely go back for a spring/autumn trip

Been there a few times - as pre previous posts - heat haze is a real challenge at Moron. Never had any encounters with Police/Security there, just keep a decent distance from the fence.

Heathaze was an issue again. Also, “road”works being done at the farmtrack next to the fence were an issue. So mostly USMC/USAF could be logged:

The one unread MV-22B should be either 168346(/01 assumed) or 168609/13.

The VMM263 ("EG-xx" tailcodes) aircraft have stayed on and are in the process of being re-coded to VMM-266 ("ES-xx" tailcodes). Five out of the six now identified as such.
