NAS Oceana and NAS Norfolk tours

I am hoping to visit Virginia in May and whilst there I would like to attend one of the public tours that are provided at both Norfolk and Oceana Naval bases. I am not sure what to expect from these tours so was wondering if anyone had attended any in the past. My main interest is in photography and my question would be - what are the opportunities like for taking photographs of the based aircraft during these tours. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Dinger.

From what I've heard about the Oceana tours is that you get on a bus and driven around a bit but you're not allowed to get off on the flighline. Not very good.

Why don't you contact VFA-106's PAO to see if they'd be happy to show you around? That's what I did and had a great morning with them on the flightline.

Had a bus tour around Norfolk a few years ago. Went to see the preserved stuff but not taken onto the airfield side.
