Anyone who follows me on social media will probably be fed up with how much I have been singing the praises of the ZigAirmeet over the last two weeks. I think I can comfortably say it was the most enjoyable airshow I've ever been to. Obviously a large part of that is the stunning setting at Mollis, but the lineup, atmosphere and weather were also all (mostly) perfect.
The biggest attraction for me was the mountain opposite the airfield (Now known as "The Naughty Mountain"

) and the potential photo opportunities afforded by climbing up through the various public footpaths. On the arrivals day, after a brief stop at a prominent white cross that overlooked the north of the airfield, I decided to scope out my preferred location for the show. 450m of climbing later, I found myself in a picturesque alpine clearing looking straight down at show centre. That afternoon the weather rolled in and the Typhoon did a practice display in the middle of a thunderstorm! I went back to the same spot for the Friday show, and I can't quite describe the sensation of being in the middle of a flying display.
I went inside on the Saturday, but haven't started editing this photos yet, so thought I would put these up first. I also thought I'd pop by on the Sunday to see if anything was departing, and found that the old taxiway was now a public cycleway and footpath. The whole airfield was open with no fences! Possibly the best access to a departures day I've ever experienced.
