Bucharest International Air Show

A couple of weeks ago I travelled to Romania for this show. I was hoping to see some Mig 21s flying, but the recent crash meant just two on static and none flying. This was held at the second airport in Bucharest, with a good mix of international military participation (US, Germany, Italy, Greece, Austria, Czech, Hungary, Spain, UK) - the much anticipated RAF Typhoon display though consisted of one high and fast pass! A long flying schedule meant most of the participants flew twice (with both Spanish Typhoons flying) through to dusk, with an evening concert.

But, it was free and no security checks on the gate meant that you could just walk in - been a while since I've been to a show like that. And the Romanian AF support was good, mass IAR330/Puma flypasts, multiple F16s, C27 and C130.

Very nice, mate. As you said, it is a long time since you could simly walk in to a show! I've long wanted to attend this show and again this year I dipped out, sadly.

Great report of what looked like a good show. Great to see the Austrian Saab 105 flying.
