Adlertag at Kirmington

Post by Runner » Sat Aug 15, 2015 5:14 pm

A dash from work to watch the events at Kirmington / Humberside was well worthwhile. a sights and sound of Spitfires in every direction as they formed into flights will stay with me for a long time:

Nice pics, was great to be there to see and hear the 13 aircraft (12 on ground and 1 joining overhead) at Humberside. Was quite surprised that BBMF had to conscript a civvy Spitfire for Parky to fly though. Anyone know why?

Thanks for the comments,

The media coverage that I've seen was pretty inaccurate, I heard of a few folks that had gone to various places for a look at all 13 Sptifires as announced in the local media (Hull Daily Mail) and were dissapointed when they didn't see them all. I understand the flight past the Humber Bridge was on the opposite side to the masses assembled on Hessle Foreshore?

350 - did you find out about the Parky's Spitfire? I convinced myself I'd been mistaken about that as I drove home!

Runner - nobody has come up with an answer as yet. Looking at Brian Marshall's pics from Duxford he also appeared to be flying TD314 at the weekend after the Humberside event. Just to compound the issue the BBMF website had their contribution to the Humberside event as being 3 Spits and a Hurricane!
