I saw that on the live feed, IIRC he then hover taxiied off the runway but didn't see anymore until it departed.. Was it checked over once it had halted?

Saw the same thing yesterday afternoon.

It's the exhaust from the engine being stirred up by the rotors downwash. :thumbs:

Yes tower reported that and noted to him that it looked much flatter than the other side so could well have been a blowout.

He asked Westlands Tower to have his engineers outside ready for his return, I don't know what happened when it got there though.

Don't think I've ever seen engine exhaust a) come out of the main wheel or b) appear as white smoke before!

Pretty sure he blew a tyre. It was a gentle hover taxi to park on the lazy before departing gear down to Yeovil.

Yep, confirmed that it did in fact blow , some pictures will show its much, much flatter than the usual.

Exhaust ! my a**e. That would explain the un-scheduled leaning & structure-rattling taxi into the disused r/w, followed by a hover-taxi for clearance. IIRC they don't usually do a runway FOD inspection for exhaust smoke. Doh!
