RAF Coltishall 2014

Post by Bumblebee » Thu Sep 11, 2014 8:36 pm

Was lucky to see that Norfolk Heritage tours were arranging a tour around RAF Coltishall. The tour supervised by the 'Spirit of Coltishall' team were on hand to answer any questions, the put on a very good 2 1/2 hour tour which ran right on time. We were only allowed in two hangars, in hangar 6 no photos were allowed except to take shots of the bullet holes in the hangar doors!! It was tinged with a touch of sadness though...

I went on ATC camp there in 1976, had the group picture in front of the Spitfire which IIRC was positioned on the green in the last shot.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

Any idea why you were not allowed to photograph inside Hangar No.6?

There is no hangar No 6, it's No3 which used to be the home of 6 Sqn, now used for police training hence no photos, I was one of the tour guides.
