JASDF Hyakuri Airshow

Post by Vixen1 » Thu Jan 10, 2019 8:38 am

I was lucky enough to be able to go out to Japan and include the show for both days. Saturday, which was a much better day, was spent outside and inside on Sunday which was dull and overcast for much of the day. I don't normally post pictures of this size as I use a smaller format for my website. I hope you like them:-

1. 302 TFS getting airborne
Image

2. The JASDF Hyakuri Squadrons - 301 TFS F-4EJs, 302 TFS F-4EJs and 501TRS RF-4Es

3. 302 TFS Specials

4. The original 302 TFS Special Scheme

5. Revealed just before the show, the black version of the Special Scheme

6. 301 TFS during pre-flight checks

7. 301 TFS getting ready to mount up

8. 501 TRS RF-4E powering into the air

9. 301 TFS F-4EJ cleaning up after lift-off
Image

10. 302 TFS Special F-4EJ Phantom
Image

11. 302 TFS Special F-4EJ Phantom breaking right
Image

12. 302 TFS Special F-4EJ Phantom pull up

13. 302 TFS Special F-4EJ Phantom breaking right

14. 301 TFS F-4EJ Phantom keeping it low

15. 501 TRS RF-4E Phantom breaking in the overhead.

Thanks for looking!

Skilled art at its best, from both yourself and the painters!
I do miss my time in the RAF, but every month it reminds me how great it was with a lovely big cheque

Very nice set, given the well-documented dodgy/ cloudy skies on the Sunday. Out of interest, were you at the Towers for the Saturday shots? Can't quite match the shot angles to backgrounds just yet.

Yes, I was at the Peace Towers for the Saturday although from watching the practice earlier in the week we knew we would be a bit under the flying for some of the items. As a result we walked back to the road leading to the 'Back Gate' to the base and stood on rough ground there. That gave us a better angle.

Thanks for the comments guys, I have loads of shots of the other display items and from activities from the other four days we spent there. Fantastic location but time is running out with the first F-2 replacements moving in later this year.

Thanks for the info' feedback. Whilst sad that the F4 era at Hyakuri is ending, the transition period of 'blue' F2's & coloured Phantoms will be an irresistible combination in such an accessible location. Anybody able to confirm when the Aggressor TDY for 2019 will be? :Wow:
