They live in the hangar but one side has no door and you can usually see one or two from the departures level on the new terminal. If you mean next Sunday the 4th June then there should be an open day at Cerklje, Slovenia less than an hour from Zagreb showing off some of the participants of Adriatic Strike which runs from the 5th.

Arriving for a detachment until the 22nd June. FAF4092 C-135CF 470 31-CA. During its stay it flew mostly over Romania and the Baltic states. The relaxed crew made some epic low departures and the occasional run and break on recovery. It used FAF4092 for the whole stay apart from the day it departed switching to FAF4101.

Not long after its arrival the spotter scheme was suspended and a ban on being at the fence was put in place. This was duly ignored with no consequences.

They would prefer you fill out an application to register for a spotter permit which you can get via bedzevi@zag.aero but if you are already there this week then it will be too late. Even with being on the spotter list they do randomly forbid people from being near the fence for unknown reasons. I generally ignore this and carry on as usual as they don’t really have any power outside the fence.

Nothing special happening this week as far as I know. MiG flying is very sparse with maybe one or two jets flying each week.

Although there has been some MiG flying it is only one or two jets on a good week. The regular QRA practice once a week appears to have stopped. The number of recent test flights is a positive though.

For those keen to catch some MiG activity there should be one possibly two taking part at the Gornja Stubica aeromeeting on Sunday the 10th September which runs from 1500-1700. The last two events have seen a single pass near the start of the show around 1530 then some more active participation at the end of the show at 1700. The 2021 edition saw the same MiG on both occasions but 2022 saw two different jets. Although Stubica offers a nice setting to watch displays it is tricky for photography with display items having a large area to manoeuvre in and it’s hit or miss if they fly over your chosen spot. I usually choose somewhere near the grave yard as it’s at least the right side of the valley for the sun. If you really want to make sure of getting some pictures of the MiGs then I would stick with the airport for launch and recovery. You can get good shots the whole length of the runway in the afternoon. The 1700 slot would be especially nice if the sun is out.

MiG flying is currently down to less than once a week. The squadron 191ELA is holding a celebration for its 32 Anniversary on Thursday the 4th January and a flight programme is planned for 1300. There is no indication of how many jets they intend to put up though.

The only MiGs believed currently active are 116, 117, 118, 133 and 166 although 133 has not been noted flying by me since June.

It appears both An-32s were moved back onto the military ramp around the 18th December but then put back in the trees by the 22nd and are still present so rumours they had gone to Ukraine are unfounded.
