Mildenhall Air Fete 1991 inc. a few Gulf War veterans

Post by Frank the Dog » Thu Jan 30, 2014 9:38 pm

I was lucky enough to make every Air Fete through the 1990s. It was always a great day out with terrific hosts, wonderful aircraft, cold beer and hot burgers  .I found these earlier, not the best quality but quite interesting. Thanks for looking and I hope they are of some interest :)

Hi FtD :P

Quality post, my man :thumb:

C5 and C141 in Lizard :Wow:

Great shots all round (bar 1)

I could not possibly have taken that shot, as I would, at that point, have been standing in a queue for a) Buds; b) burgers; c) the loo or d) just running for cover, hands over ears, away from the flightline as fast and as far as I could ( and there would have been quite a few of us like-minded types) ;)

Thanks for sharing some more great memories

See, I knew wouldn't be the only one on FC to have joined the chase to get as far away as possible from the aviation equivalent of temazepam :Wow:

You had to be quick though, as the queues built up so quickly at all the aforementioned venues

Cheers

I was going to post about the 'Grasshoppers', but I knew someone would beat me to it!!! Lost on huge bases like Mildenhall. I went to the loo once when the German CH53 was starting it's display. Nobody when to the loo, they stood there like me watching it's superb display with their legs crossed. Grasshoppers? Yeah, they were good, but only on a small stage. :)

Great show. I have a photo of the Tornado. It wasn't until I had it developed I saw it had the two RAF crew who were shot down and paraded on Iraq TV. Sorry I have forgotten their names. Both called John ?
