Hi Patrick. :thumb:
Remember the 'hall 92 rhino display well.
One of the few displays that could actually stop sales on the burger stalls. . . .
And lets face it, that took some doing! :D

Cant think of any current airframe that stirs the soul quite like the F4.

Top, top post Unc.

Love the Phantom, any more?

Back stage at The Hall about 5 minutes after landing? Not a clue really except for the Swiss Hunter and the wooden pole!!

I had a copy of the Phantom Phinale VHS - but had it nicked! Can you still get copies?

My favourite aircraft, especially watching night launches at Wattisham and Night Flash Photography at Castlemartin (10 TRW). Day launches at Wattisham in the pouring rain were pretty good too! Sat in on a sortie briefing at Wattisham courtesy of Fugly once - very impressive professionalism.
Flash - Flash - Flash - Flash - Flash! Watch the Birdie!

Lovely jubbly. The '92 (phinal) RAF solo Phantom sequence was indeed a good 'un. It did cause a bit of concern during practice on the Friday at the 'hall- the AAR probe cover panel fell off during the dirty barrel roll and landed in someone's back garden! Luckily he was a bit of an aeroplane fan so didn't cause much bother!
Re your mystery pic paddyboy - I reckon it's IAT '91 - 74sqn flew a 4 ship display that year and it's the only location I can tie up Pat Suisse and XT891.

It was our second display date and during the practice display on the Friday like ST24 said the AAR probe cover panel broke off so we had to use the spare aircraft, it wasn't a good start as on our first display weekend we burst a tyre on landing at North Weald, luckily the rest of the display season went well with no mishaps.
Being on the Phantom Phinale 92 display team as a groundcrew member was great as I am a spotter too so it was great to be travelling all over the place supporting the jets one of the best times in my RAF days, thanks for posting as it brought back lovely memories.
Take care and best wishes

Nigel

Hi Peeps :P

Thanks so much for peeking and replying :thumb:

Have to agree with all the comments about a great 'plane and a great season

Phabulous intel from ST and Phixer!

Rerun: I have both Phantom Phinale I and II; have managed to copy PPI to DVD, but PPII will not do the same :@

Have never seen either in Video phorm anywhere, so I treasure mine like gold-dust, especially so as I actually bought them from Mark Manwaring himself on a stall in a hangar at Coningsby!

Very best regards, and I will be putting a phew more up soon

That's nice to hear it from the horses mouth so to speak. It may well be yourself that I spoke with on the Saturday morning as part of the media tour. I couldn't quite believe the size of the "panel" that had fallen off when it was shown to us in the back of your minibus! That would have given someone quite a headache... :'(

If I may add a couple PB..

Can't help you with the where and when, but the airframe XT891 was the first Phantom delivered to Coningsby in August 1968 and is now the Gate Gaurdian.
Apologies if that has already been mentioned.
John
