Binbrook Open Day 19th July 1975

Post by 3Greens » Wed Nov 20, 2024 2:37 pm

I think I may have posted these shots some years back in the days of 'Photo-bucket' but can't trace them, so here they are again for good memories.

The RAF Binbrook 1975 Open Day, by comparison to some was a small event with sponsorship coming from within the RAF by the AOC 11 Group. Many aircraft types were noticeably missing but thankfully great support came from the German Air Force providing 7 of the 10 aircraft on the static flight line which also included a Lightning F.6, Chipmunk and a Hunter . Two 43 Sqdn. Phantoms for the flying display only arrived on the Saturday afternoon and departed on Sunday morning.
Fortunately I had the Monday off so was able to catch the German departures with their own 'mini' display

Thanks for sharing these with us, a reminder that fifty years ago there was more variety and splashes of colour. I've really enjoyed viewing this selection.

Ginos, Hooters, Tooms (and the odd Lightnining or two), what's not to like there :thumb: Great post, thanks for sharing them. :)
Everyone has a photographic memory; some just don't have film.

Lovely photos, thanks for the memories Keith. My gang drove up from Farnborough for the day. We all thought that we'd hate to have to go to war in a G-91 but loved seeing them all the same.

Hi Keith, superb pictures again with great subjects from “ the local “. Although I was only a wee bairn in 75 there’s lots of types I remember from visits when I was a bit older!

Thanks again
