'Warsaw Pact Central Heating' - Lakenheath Style!

Post by Knife 04 » Thu Oct 31, 2024 6:01 pm

Seeing Toom317's post of F-111s at Lossiemouth, I thought I would add some I have recently completed from 'the box'.

Loved the F-111 - one of my favourite all time aircraft! Hope you find of interest

To confirm these are from the collection of Richard Minter and appropriately watermarked. Richard has kindly given permission to share these. I have scanned / processed

Very nice shots of a classic aircraft, have fond memories of ‘swingers’ on Colt approach and at Lakenheath, thanks for posting these.

Hi Darren :P

Like John, those gorgeous swingers remind me of many days spent at Scottow crash gate at my beloved Coltishall watching them come through on the way back to the Heath

Thanks for posting and see you soon, matey ;)

Excellent posts. I was always mesmerised by the habit of the 111"F's" after-burners- always lance-like from the base of the exhausts.
Well remember the F-111s at night-time low level over Cowan Head mill near Kendal when the electro-fluorescent strips were illuminated by the mill-yard lights; they looked like christmastrees!

Lovely images of a terrific aircraft! The 492nd boss jet with the blue highlighted tail codes looks absolutely superb.

Amazing! Saw these gems during their final years. LN must've been a busy place with 4 squadrons of these beasts..

Fabulous images, never tire of looking at the old swingers :thumb:
Hey, there's a thought, has anyone ever put up a soundtrack, the distinctive whine of the Vark's TF-30's when taxiing out?

Thanks for all the kind comments everybody - much appreciated :thumb: There are more to come (already completed) but they are with one of the squadrons at the moment and I will post later

Thanks for sharing.
Can only echo everyone else's sentiments.
Was never a fan of the 'Swinger' as they never seemed to do anything dynamic in terms of flying.
What I wouldn't give to see one now though.
