Recently had a trip to the Eastern Seaboard and called in to Atlantic City Airport to catch the F-106B on a pole at the gate of the NJ ANG. Then down to Cape May Airport after a good look at Atlantic City. Cape May Airport houses the Wildwood Aviation Museum. While I was there there was a privately owned TBM Avenger out on the pan. I've posted up a couple of pictures of this as well as a few shots from the museum. Outside and gradually weathering away were a number of Caribous. Most were ex-Spanish Air Force but a couple were in white and blue civil colours. I vaguely remember NASA using a couple of these way back in the 70s. Does anybody else recall that or am I imagining things?
The crew of a Coastguard Dauphin from Atlantic City also called in for lunch at the local cafe so was able to take a few shots of their nice shiny helicopter as well
I often wonder why old aircraft such as the Caribou's shown here are allowed to jus rot away. Is there still a demand for spares? I've seen aluminium (English spelling!) that has started to rot so surely to recycle the airframes whilst still "healthy" would be worthwhile? So sad to see....................
Oooooh, very nice especially the Caribous.
I recall T-9-19 / N55NC as one of four that passed through Baginton in February 1995 and it is always sad to see such lovely pistons wasting away.
Thanks for creating such a wonderful post
Best regards, Terry
