New Kodak Slide Scanner

I brought a new slide scanner when I was bored last week after seeing the positive reviews on YouTube.. Kodak Slide and scan...very easy to use and nice and small...however it appears to have built in ICE type slide cleaning..Results have been mixed so far..Some images are great, others come out a bit over done.Need to work out if I can change the settings, but that means reading up on it :grr:

Anyway, here are a few examples of the results from K64 slides. It does, Colour and B+W negs 135, 110, 126 and slides too. Its main positive point is how quick it is...

1, Mirage F1 at Upper Heyford.

7, TS-11 Katowice.

8, Caribou at Cuatro Vientos, Madrid, Spain.

Interested to here if anyone else has experience with this budget scanner...Hope they were of interest...

Cheers,

Nice shots, thanks for sharing these with us. The Greek machines stand out, I can think of someone who will love the Northrop in particular.

Results look good to me, which is more than I can say for the paintwork on that Polish MiG!

Nice ones Kevin.

The new scanner has done a really good job on KR64s, something I've really struggled with using Silverfast and a Nikon Coolscan V... Hmmm.

What's the overdone with ICE look like... with Silverfast it eats into the edges of blacks using the KR64 profile.

Are these straight form the scan or did you do some additional work after the scan?

Thanks for sharing

Kev

Yes, ICE will have a detrimental effect of Kodachrome scans. Even so, you have managed to produce so good results :)

They look great to me! I have played with Canon & Plustek kit & whilst the results have been okay, it's the time element that's killing it?

If, as KeBul asks these are 'as they come-out' then the results are more than acceptable to me. Please confirm if you chose the Kodak RODFS50
or RODFS70? There are some good deals at this time. :thumb:

Yes, they are pretty much as they come off. albeit cropping and levelling and the occasional marks removed...Mine is the RODFS50...HTH

These are fantastic. I have the ame model and my results are no where near as good - probably due to my original slides not being great either! Maybe I need to see if there are other settings but thought I had it set up right.

Anyway looking forward to possible future posts from you.

Hi Kev, some very nice scans there mate, especially if they're from Kodachrome. Which software do you use with your scanner? A very common product that normally comes with scanners is Silverfast. It's a little bit like marmite, some are quite content to use this programme, but there are just as many users who hate it. There are alternatives out there, personally I use Vuescan myself, it has much better tools and is quite amicable with most scanners. I sourced this from a facebook site; https://www.facebook.com/groups/1102434186467646 which is also pretty useful. :thumb:
