Freddie here; been away for a while...Just found a 616 Sqn image, from my father... also added one more.

Thanks for sharing these, very interesting. Always nice to see a Meteor, one of my favourite types. The Me262' looks good too, as it's got RAF roundels, wonder what became of it.

An me262 coded 17 was captured by the allies at Lechfeld on 29th April 1945.. could be the same one?

I beieve that it was test flown at least once with RAF registration, and then off to the dominions?

Thanks... it looks the same jet.
My father was ground crew (radio etc.) on 616 Sqn.

None of them wearing Pilots Wings, but top button undone on battle dress would seem to indicate that they were fighter pilots. Curious.

All rather talented and resourceful ground chaps on 616 Sqn, including my father...
Apparently it took a lot of 'nous' to keep the jets serviceable.

Just being the usual groundcrew 'scruffs' John

(as many of us were at least up until the 1980's)
Actually their BD's look in fairly good condition !
I used to take real pride in my scruffy appearance - although I had to smarten up a bit (but just a little) when promoted to Cpl in 1981
