A few from the 1980 Waddington show

I remember this as the first time I had seen a grey painted Phantom. I took a few more close ups than those shown here - I would be happy to post them up if anyone's interested. I didn't take a shot of the Lightning F.6 as it didn't have squadron marks. Also the Red Arrows were of interest as it was their first season on Hawks - who would have guessed they were still using those Hawks over 40 years later?

Thanks for sharing these with us, some great shots here. My favourite has to be the fifth one down with the two Vulcans, must have made some proper noise on take off. Nice to see the early F-15s, Bronco and the Canadian Hooter too.

Some fantastic shots there. The CF-104 and OV-10 stand out....but look at all those fresh stencils on the grey Phantom! 😂

Yes please. Do add more photos.

I think that is the year dad did the static then we went and sat outside on the A15 near the ASP with the 4 Vulcans sat on it.

Great shots, especially the detailed pics of the Jag and F111. The stencils on the F4 look a bit OTT, I don't remember them being so vivid on the F4 (perhaps they got dirty and less evident with age?!). Anyway, as others have said, please upload more pics (and that's an order :P ;) )

I well remember this show and the Vulcan scramble of four aircraft was the best I have seen (seen previously at Finningley BoB shows). The Vulcans took off, banked left (as per the photo') and turned back towards the runway mid point before pulling up into a climb on full power. Wow, the noise was both deafening but enjoyable! Thanks for evoking such fab memories.

A great and 'proper' airshow - thanks for posting Chris
I took a great interest in that Phantom myself as I was asked to photograph it nose to tail for the artwork for one of the model manufacturers. Needless to say for 1/72 scale decals they edited their final prints
Great memories

No, it's just the undercarriage door closing up - it had just taken off in a stream of 4

This was the 1st airshow i ever attended as a 10 year old boy . Great memories. I had my photo taken in the front seat of the red arrow hawk that was in one of the hangars.

Interesting to note the RAF Phantom FGR2 still hasn't has the ECM panel upgrade to the tail fin?
