Going through my logbook of 1973 I saw that I overlooked the open house of Spangdahlem that year. So now, a liitle bit more than 50 years ago, some pictures of that day where photographing was difficult with the public around the aircraft.

The G-91 is especially nice - something about that camo scheme with the dayglo on the drop tanks. Great shots.

Thanks Arnold, another great selection of shots you've provided. Nice to see the Flamant amongst them, plus the US Army choppers. Thanks for taking the time to put these up.

Great selection there Arnold with tantalising glimpses of Belgian F104's ("Slivers"?), a German F104(?) nose just behind the GIna and is that a French F100 rear end beyond the Flamant? Heady days! Thank you.

As noted above, I find the background detail holds as much interest as the main subject. :thumb: Another great trip down memory lane for the many among us that
didn't have a decent camera at the time, or didn't store the results as well as you have! Thanks for sharing these great shots.

Thank you all very much for the nice comments on my pictures.
The Belgian F-104's and the French Mirage 3R in the background were all behind a big fence and I was unable to photograph them. The F-104 nose visible behind the G-91 was F-104G 25-75 of JaBoG31 while the aircraft visible behind the Flamant was Puma 1176/CUC of the ALAT. Both aircraft I did not photograph, most likely because there were people around them continually.
Kind regards,
Arnold

Brilliant stuff. Incredible to think that, despite their appearance the Drakens were new in Danish service and the Flamant would still be very much in operational!
