Thanks for sharing these, some great shots. It was a show I only ever got to attend twice. Being midweek didn't really help. All winners here, Phantoms, Lightning's, Harriers, Wessex, the Sharks display team, proper pointy nose Shar, a Herk that was sadly lost, plus a CAF Silver Star. The latter seemed to turn up at every show and is another sadly missed type. Some great memories here.

Quite simply, an awesome set
Frames and times that can never come back
Glad I’m old enough to have been to many
proper display days
Thanks for posting

Terrific set, esp the Tooms + Lightnings (which I don't recall seeing that year). Interesting to see them both with the same tail letters differentiated by the small 1 + 2 suffix. Anyone know the story behind this?

From what I can remember the two Lightnings were the designated display pair that year and were recoded after. The BK = Binbrook?! Harrier XZ133 now hangs from the ceiling at Duxford. The sad thing is that the Phantom XT870 was the last aeroplane to be conventionally catapulted from a UK carrier and they scrapped it. I did make it known at the time but nobody was interested in preserving her. I wonder why the Fly Navy Heritage Trust recently get rid of an F-4 with true "navy heritage" when a trials aircraft that was never served with the Navy sits in the FAAM? Thanks for the comments! Daz.

Brilliant set, thank you sharing

Chivenor was my local throughout the 80's, 1984 was yet another superb show they put on for many years, sadly missed.
More pictures please if you have them, always welcome, thanks again for bringing back some great memories

Excellent stuff - camo trembler sans RWR- don't get much better!
