Earlier in the month during a trip out to Vancouver Island I took the opportunity to visit the BC Aviation Museum (https://bcam.net/) at Victoria International Airport. Another of those gems that you find now and again. A good mix of Canadian aviation, both military and civilian, from the early days to not so long ago.

Main highlight for me was the restoration of Lancaster B Mk 10, FM104, being restored in its post-war role of surveillance and search & rescue.

Like so many of the smaller museums a lot is packed in making photography difficult, but that didn’t seem to matter when looking round.

All in all a very worthwhile visit, and well recommended.

Thanks Alan. I'm looking to visit myself next year so it's good to see current photos as opposed to the website!

Is this the same Museum which used to be in Vancouver? I visited back in '90 but believe it has since relocated. That Lanc will look awesome when restored in the original scheme. Think it's that red and white cheat line which really makes it stand out.

Hi Alan.

Particularly interested in how much of FM104 you were able to see, assuming the rest of the fuselage and wings were on site in other areas?
It's one of 8 Lancasters preserved in Canada and 1 of the 3 I still need.

As far as I know all the pieces were there in various stages of restoration.

As you can see it’s a bit of a jigsaw puzzle just now, but hopefully it won’t be too long before they have it in pristine condition.

Sorry, don’t know the answer to that one.

Hi Alan.
Thanks for the update and glad to see there's enough of it to take as a full frame rather than 'cockpit only'.
Managed to miss the museum on the two times I was in Victoria.
One for another trip I guess.
