Some more from Davis-Monthan 1975

Post by Keflavik69 » Thu Mar 09, 2023 8:36 am

Apart from Delta Daggers I was also able to photograph other types of aircraft. I hope you like the selection I made. Knowing there are so many people on this forum with such a vast aviation knowledge, I would really appreciate when someone could tell me the squadron of the F-101.

Brilliant Arnold - what a shame to see all those B-58s like that - a plane ahead of its time!

Please keep them coming

I think a Hustler still holds the Tokyo to London speed record, even with slowing down for IFR and a failed afterburner on one engine.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

Great set Arnold! I wasn't even born by then, so really missed out on some good stuff.
As for the request, any specific F-101 you needed the squadron info off? If it's your Canadion Voodoo, then 409 sqn would be the right answer. The USAF grey ones are part of the ADC (Air Defence Command) as one can see by their eagle badge.

Maybe this is of help?

Thank you Sjoerd. I will update it on my Flickr page. Now I only look for the squadron of picture 11.

Thanks Arnold, another great selection of shots for us to enjoy, even though some are in poor condition. But there's some rare types amongst them.

AAaahhhhh!!
My area of interest, having first visited the previous year.
You got near the B-58s and Voodoos - We weren't allowed for an un-remembered reason. There were areas filled with already auctioned-off frames that belonged to the scrapyard contractors and these were certainly off-limits. Some frames sat there for quite a while before finally making their last journey.
Great set!
I'm on holiday so don't have my Martyn Swann Series of MASDC books to hand, but AMARCExperience shows

Hello Arnold, another great post.......your #11 Voodoo should be from the 84th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (78th Fighter Wing), if they are correct :

Here you see them flying in those markings:

Another superb post, Arnold. Some real gems in there.

My, those Hustlers and Voodoos are looking in a sorry state, but well worth seeing nonetheless.

Thanks for posting.

Regards, Terry.

Hi Arnold :P

Hustlers and Voodoos :Wow:

I can remember when the 101’s were based at Bentwaters and the distinctive sound they made on the way back home

Thanks for yet another superb post :thumb:

Lovely memories of past times, when the skies seemed to be pretty full of aircraft. Like Paddy, I remember the101's from Upper Heyford passing over Silverstone when I was spectating there.
