many happy memories of the leicester air shows, and they did seem to get some star attractions.

Great memories. What variety Leicester seemed to pull in over the years. I only went to one show (in '88 i think?) mainly just to see the Frecce Tricolori. How they bagged them i don't know! 😯 In 86 i think i went to the nearby Nottingham Tollerton airshow instead in the hope they would also pull in a similar kind of lineup...but sadly the event was cancelled due to torrential rail after being there only a couple of hours. I was gutted 😩

That looks like a cracking lineup to me

Vark, Rhino, Hooter, and of course that Edgeley Optica

Thanks for posting :thumb:

Great to see a 'Vark and the Canadian CC-132 (hope that's the correct term - I mean the Dash 7!). Looks superb in those colours.

I attended that show and it was the best they put on. The Vikings were the stars. Oh to hear again the whine of a Hooter!

It was our local and for a good while a brilliant air show. I still have the programmes from the shows we attended.

F104's used to frighten the life out of me when I was a kid, they were so impressive! I think it was '86 that Stoughton had it's runway lengthened and a 104 did a touch and go... I really must sketch one, someday.

Such lovely photos, thank you for sharing them!

Only went twice , we parked in a lane/ layby at the back of the runway, the3 of us just got on a paththat led to the back of the runway and jumped out of our skin as i think frecce zoomed over ? real good shows! any info of display aircraft at the yearly shows would be great . Rob
