Once upon a time in the west, lot-3 10/92 Gordon

Post by Gordsmith » Sun Jun 26, 2022 2:10 pm

This is a rather long post from the NAS Moffet show. I am feeling rather guilty about hogging this forum, but "hey ho, faint heart..." I have included a sequence of "Faaaaaaaht Albert" as we do not see this any more and I can never get tired of the great maw of the wonderful old blimp hangar. Gordon

What a terrific post - well done

I have 'done' Moffet from the outside but never fortunate enough to go on base

Yes it is - a one-off conversion to QSRA (Quiet Short-haul Research Aircraft).

Iain. It is indeed a jet powered Buffalo, designated C-8A. An experiment in blown flaps to aid STOL. It has operated off the U.S. Carrier Kitty Hawk in it's time. Regards.

Thanks Gordon, an outstanding selection of shots and so much variety of types. I've really enjoyed looking through these.

Thinking that this C.8 is possibly the only four pure jet aircraft to operate of a carrier? unless anyone knows different??.

What a fantastic post.
Love the NASA stuff and the C-141A in particular.
I want to build models of them all!
Thanks for posting
Regards,
Ferrari
