Earlier this month I revisited this fabulous museum in California on my first trip out of the UK since before Covid hit. Like most museums not a great deal changes but they did have a few new additions, or ones that weren’t on display during my first visit in 2019.

1. North American T-28B Trojan 138203.

2. Boeing B-17G 44-83546 ‘The Movie Memphis Belle. This aircraft was converted to represent an F model during the 1980s and portrayed the Memphis Belle in the film of the same name. She’s currently under maintenance and should be back in the skies in the not too distant future, joining the museum’s other airworthy B-17G, ‘Miss Angela’. The original Memphis Belle is at the National Museum of the United States AirForce in Dayton, Ohio.

Was there last November, it is indeed a very impressive collection and in a fabulous location too. If you have deep pockets, you can even book a pleasure flight in the Mustang. Although I'm not overly enthusiastic about pilots portraits painted on the cockpit canopies at the car park/entrance. And the VA-82 "Marauders" markings on the A-7 Corsair are atrocious. But a great museum all the same, definitely worth stopping off at.
