Thanks for sharing these, I think there's a lot of people out there who wish that their local bases offered such a selection of types. The variety that St Mawgan seemed to attract was something else as shown here. I only saw one Spanish P-3 in service and that was at St Mawgan 1991 IAD, which must of been one of the best shows I've ever attended.

Nice memories Tim. I particularly like the French T-33.
Is that one of Mike's sets of steps in the foreground?

What's the pod on the Vulcan, is it one of the sniffers built in a Hunter drop tank?

Definitely a 'sniffer' pod as this was 27's secondary role at the time, didn't know it was a Hunter drop tank...

Great pictures Tim, I think the T-33 was taken on 21st April 1980 and possibly the Vulcan too, I remember that day very well

The only French T-33 I saw in service.

I'll check tonight, I thought 81 and and didn't check but could well be '80. Photo taken from the Old civil terminal. I had a Vivitar 135mm and Dave had a 3x converter he used on his 50mm as a telephoto, both M42 screw fit so we each borrowed each others lenses to make a dodgy old 405mm creation, it let in hardly any light so you had to rest it on something, stop breathing and squeeze gently...

Yes I just took the numbers back then , I have my log from 1980 onwards for St Mawgan before then I just logged under aircraft type I didnβt get my Praktica MTL3 until 1981 so no photos from 1980. We also had an Argus take off that day too
