This is something I did a long time ago on another forum but I have been persuaded to reprise it here. These are images from various stages of my time as an RAF navigator. They are all dodgy scans from dodgy prints from dodgy cameras. Firstly as a cadet on Northumbrian Universities Air Squadron.

Lovely pics Stephen
Even the pic with Didcot cooling towers is now historic.
I was based at Abingdon on the UAS's 1980-83 (ground crew) on my last tour and enjoyed many flights in Bulldogs and Chipmunks,I even flew in 'Capital Formation' once (10 Bulldogs ULAS),it was a great place to work.

Only flew in the bulldog as an accompanying officer, mainly at 5AEF, after the 'chippie' and before the 'Grob'. Really enjoyed it. Fun to fly accurately, with the ability to do aeros as well.

Very interesting selection of shots, many thanks for sharing these with us.

V. interesting, esp the 7 ship o'er Didcot. Reminds me of my 40th B'day when wifey arranged a flight in a Bulldog for me. Problem was my B'day is in Nov and that day the wind was just the right side of gale force for the flight to take place. Needless to say it was a wee bit bumpy and so not v.enjoyable. When the pilot asked me if I'd like to experience a loop I had to decline as I had no doubt that my breakfast would have ended up all over the cockpit!
