Rhein-Main September 1969, Part 1

Post by Keflavik69 » Tue May 10, 2022 8:45 pm

I spent a few days at the fence of Rhein-Main AB from 5 to 9 September 1969 where I met some British enthousiasts including the late Paul Bennett. The weather was fantastic and the aircraft entertained me a lot. As a start some C-118 and C-130 pictures. I hope you like them.

Thanks Arnold, a very welcome selection of shots. Nice to see some bare metal C-130s. I always enjoy seeing your photos, as do many others.

Arnold

Great stuff as always. I've never seen a A model 130 with the large tanks or pods on the outer stations, only the small ones. I wonder if it was an early thing or just the RC?

Absolutely fantastic; I never did get to see an RC-130 but you captures really do them justice.
A brilliant trip down memory lane and I cannot thank you enough for sharing them.
I would love to see any of the many pistons especially the C-97's C-133's and C-124's if you have any
I echo Mustang 531's comment "I always enjoy seeing your photos".
Best regards, Terry

Love the C130’s, but the C118 was always such an elegant airframe.

A fantastic list here: https://www.c-130.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=51257

"LN 37th TAS Langley AFB, 66 -69" - which is now part of the 86th Airline Wing at Ramstein!

As has been said by others, Arnold, these are great nostaglic photos. Thank you for posting them. Those RC/EC Hercs are just wonderful! I wish I had taken the time now to pop over the FRA to see some of them :(
