St Mawgan IAD 1990

Post by TimFoo » Wed Apr 27, 2022 2:47 pm

Black Mike bashed the circuit for an hour on arrival, oh for digital and limitless film...

The Vulcan rehearsal on arrivals day was spectacular and the XV Sqn anniversary machine was brought by Flight Lieutenants Peters & Nichols who were subsequently shot down over Iraq 6 months later...

Quality weather and superb show

Thanks for these, it was at the time when several squadrons were celebrating anniversaries and there were special schemes galore. That Buccaneer was written off sadly not long after and I never saw it. But when I saw the list of attendees, it provided the incentive to visit in 1991, that turned out to be one of the best shows I've been to in the UK.

This is a super collection, they certainly had a huge variety of types on show at these shows, sadly gone now.

That Buccaneer still exists today as the Royal Navy painted example. It was 208's special that sadly crashed.

Phenomenal line up, wish I'd been there, still a good sprinkling of USAFE stuff about, RAF anniversary schemes, camo F-104s, what's not to like. Great stuff Tim.

It’s nice to see G-CTKL, my mate Gavin’s T-6. :)
