Five a day - Part 38

Post by haveblue » Tue Jan 18, 2022 5:24 pm

Our own heavy jet bomber today, the fantastic Vulcan. Did not land at Lossie that frequently in my recollection but overshoots were more common. Always impressed in the air or on the ground.

What a classic post, some great shots form Lossiemouth, and the last one with the EC-121 just amazing.
Cheers.

Classic stuff, Alan. Another vote for the last pic. Was the Connie a USN one?

Hi Daggerfan. A long time ago but think it was a USAF one.

Another nice set Alan. However the penultimate one XJ780 actually carries the badge of 27 Sqn. Dumbo the flying elephant, the cartoon of which they were allowed to use by Walt Disney himself on a goodwill visit to the States. Think that maybe the one which is preserved @ Carlisle airport.

XJ823 is at Carlisle. I have XJ780 as scrapped.

Hi F3, thanks for spotting my error and giving the story behind the 27 Sqn badge as I did not know that history.

Ah, air shows will never be the same without the iconic Vulcan.
Thanks for keeping it alive in another superb post
