Decaying Vulcan

Post by Phil H » Mon Sep 27, 2021 2:37 pm

I was greeted by a sad sight on my first outing to the National Museum of Flight, in six years.

Forlorn looking, with flaking paintwork and rainwater ingress, this HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT historic airframe is slowly decaying.- what a waste !
To the outsider, it looks as though the Museum now solely revolves around Concorde !

I know, not nice to see, but it's pretty solid. I understand there are plans to build another display building, but there were problems with getting planning permission. Perhaps someone north of the border can clarify what happened, I understood that it was because they needed to cut some trees down and permission was refused. Thanks for sharing the pic though.

That's depressing to hear. These airframes are irreplaceable and a piece of UK aviation history

Ah, memories of Scampton, Marham and Waddo in the 70's.
Such a great shame to see such an iconic warbird wasting away :(
Here's hoping it will receive some TLC in the future.
Thanks for sharing your pic :thumb:
