Hi Peeps :P

As promised. a few from the attic

I seem to recall it was the 1992 show where we were ushered in via the viewing area gate and were parked on the north side of the base :S

As usual, Patrick, you have a habit of spoiling/making other peoples day. Sometimes looking back on these days brings back good memories, and then, on the other hand, makes one realise what is missing today. Hope all well with you both. Regards.J and T. Golden Wedding on the 4th Sept for us.

A nice mistake on the first programme, as the 'F16' look quite like an F14 to me!
However, the programmes do bring back happy memories of days gone by.

Any one for Excaliber??

I have logs for Excalibur 1989 and 1990. Is that what you are looking for?

Edit just found this thread:

Short story about that 1991 cover. The original artwork was used for stickers and t-shirts as well as the programme and the t-shirts (at least) had already been printed. Then somebody high up in the noticed that the F-111s were facing down, giving the impression of crashing, and they had to be reversed. All preprinted stuff with the original artwork was consigned for destruction.
I got one of the original t-shirts because our secretary's son worked for the printer - I think I still have it somewhere.

I remember the washout at the 86 event, a real sickener because there was a great line up for that show (prelude for Binbrook)

That ‘washout’ in ‘86 brings back another memory, ‘Roughcutter’

The journey back to Norwich in my (still) mate’s ancient Mini with a few holes in the floor and soaked feet afterwards :Wow:

Them were the days indeed

Spot on, John ;)

You’re welcome, Keith :)

I can’t find lots of my early programmes from various airshows, as SWMBO appears to have ‘filed’ them somewhere :grr:

Nice one Paddy! I have the 1986 one and think that was the only show I attended at Lakenheath

As you say Saturday was a wash out and the flying display was cancelled after a couple of items (SR-71, C-5, C-141 & F-111s I think). The Sunday was a much better day!

Enjoyed the show though and picked up a few bits following the wings trip over to North Africa only 3 months earlier!

All the best

Darren

Superb to see I am sure I have at least one of those plus Bentwaters and Wethersfield we were spoilt for choice in those days.

Imagine them putting on a 2 day show these days with just those 4 items.........both days would be sold out within hours

Great memories Paddy 👌
