Hidden gems

Post by GhostFlight91 » Sat Apr 17, 2021 6:54 pm

Caught a quick glimpse of what I thought was a Westland Whirlwind while driving home through Lincolnshire today, turns out there were three! Big thanks to the owner for giving me permission to photograph them. Can anybody help with the serial numbers please?

From PlaneBase these are XP329 (V/UN), G-BKHC(XP328) and N7013H (XJ407). Not sure which is which of the last two.

The three shown as preserved at North Somercotes are XJ407, XP328 and XP329.
XJ407 is the most intact one with the yellow panels.
The ex 32 Sqn one should be XP328 thus V /84 would be XP329

Nice to see, I think one of these was put on the American civil register many years ago and might have lived at Lakenheath, I seem to remember seeing one there.

As per my post. N7013H was at Lakenheath open day in 1988 and I also have it logged in March 1989

Nice images and great find.
Great you asked permission as so many wouldn't.
All the best

Good set of photos there, great to see a UN 84 Squadron marked Whirlwind,
