Hi everyone. A couple of days ago, I came across a folder of images from a day out at Cottesmore, 13 years ago. I only ever edited two of them. I guess that Harriers were so common place that I just never bothered editing anymore. I thought you might like to see these for nostalgic reasons. The weather really changed throughout the day but the sun came out again at the end to finish the day off in style.
At the time the Harrier was never my 'bag' and I preferred the GR3 to the later models, but in hindsight.....
I guess the old saying 'you don't know what you've got till it's gone' is true after all
Its gonna rain, its gonna rain till the levee breaks, a tidal wave of fear and pain washes us away, another fight into the night until nothing else remains, how do we find harbour from the Hurricane?
Great shots. Like has been mentioned above once the Tornadoes moved out i never went again.... until the Harriers were scheduled for retirement and i managed to get over a couple of times before 'the end'. Glad i did as it was a fantastic place for viewing and has left me with some memorable moments. Thanks for sharing.
Never did understand why they were shipped to AMARG, no compatibility to the AV8, might as well have just cut them up in the first place. Sadly another crass decision by politicians all in the name of cost cutting. Nice to see though, thanks for posting.
amazing photos, brings back great memories when I spent two weeks there on school work experience doing maintenance on the harriers around the year 2000, I remember it was the year RIAT was held there as I got free tickets, while my mates was stacking shelves or lugging bricks about a building site haha! I would spend my lunch break eating a pot noddle watching them do circuits, just loved every moment of it
Great set,you did well.Like most I only went a few times plus the 2 RIAT arrivals and departures.Nicely accesible from A1 but tended to catch the wind and not a lot of action some days.Easy to get lazy with the 2 local US bases! Used to park near the engine test pad on bend.Locals nice bunch
