You've really spoilt us with this selection. There always seemed to be something of interest here, but sadly living further down south, rarely visited. In September I used to come up overnight on the train and sit on the embankment by the road to watch the show arrivals on the Friday. When they used to come in from over the sea, normally there was a run and break or low level beat-up prior to landing. Then we used to head south stopping somewhere for an overnight stay, before going to Finningley for their show. From 1995 it became easier as Leuchars was the only show. Thank you for putting these up for us to enjoy.

My school summer holidays were spent getting my paper round finished and jumping on a bus into Edinburgh to catch 0810 train to Leuchars, then spend the day sitting on the banking, great times and you never knew what was waiting in the VAS when the train pulled in.

Thanks guys glad you like, got a few more for Lossie and Edinburgh to post up.

Some really nice stuff there. Went to a show there in the late 80s. And back up again to get black Mike. Being stationed at RAFL it was a bit far but always worth the trip

Some great Leuchars memories, being the MDA it always threw up some surprises.
Cheers.

That Mirage IVP is something else, I can just imagine your jaw hitting the ground as you walked up the road and saw that sitting there.

Do you have any photographs from the Hellenic Mirage F1CG squadron exchange which took place around 1994/5?

A truly excellent selection of pictures. Thanks for posting. I can remember two occasions when a Mirage IV diverted to Lossie with an emergency but the Leuchars one is a new one on me, and a nice one!

Great memories

If my notes are correct, Mirage IVP, 25-AX, from EB1/91, Mont-de-Marsan, had its emergency on 24 February 1993. It departed three days later after engineers and spares had been flown in.

When was that? The Mirage IV was one a/c type I never got to see☹️.

I'm not one for keeping records but the first one I think was around 1968 and the second in the early 80s.

Thanks, you're making me feel old now! Just heard from a friend the second one was 6/5/81.
