JO at Alconbury 1982
Found these few slides which I have scanned of the Salty Bee deployment to Alconbury taken in June 1982. Unfortunately I only have these 5 pictures of the 18 RF4C that came over. Hope you like them.

Phantoms,whats not to like.

Great photos - thanks for posting them. In first photo it is interesting to see an RF-4C wearing "363 TFW" fin inscription. Presumably ex 363 TRW.

Ah, the memories, great reminders of a superb base - thanks. I was also down that lane, with my trusty cine camera, when they all departed back to Shaw on the 23rd of June. Unfortunately there was no sun but the howl of those engines as they taxied out was terrific.
Re: JO at Alconbury 1982
Good point. It was the 363rd TRW but was re-designated a TFW in late '81 in preparation to become mainly an F-16 wing in 1982

Military aviation history gold from an age when Tooms ruled the skies.

Great shots Michael
That lane gave great access and views .. and there always seemed to be something visiting.
Didnt make it down for these 'JO' s as we had 12 x Illinois ANG F4Ds at same time into Finningley on 'Coronet Brave'
Thanks for posting

What a great spot at Alconbury that was with the little fence and almost a guarantee of something being parked there, you just never knew what you were going to get. Great days indeed.
Cheers.
Cheers.
