For the hell of it, here is one of the Etendards at the 1975 show. What great times they were!

I remember seeing the Etendards depart on the Monday morning, I was at school a few miles away and they came over quite low. In the view here, you can see the Dutch F-104G. Never understood that while they were happy to operate from Biggin Hill, the Slivers always operated from Manston.

What memories! I think Biggin's runway was/is 6000ft which was minimum for some of the fighters to allow for parabrake failure, hence the Lightning never landed there as that requirement was 7,500 ft with no arrestor gear. 1962 looks good, three Lincolns, wow. I was one in 1962 so missed that. I'm sure I saw a Javelin at a Biggin Hill show when I was little though, I do remember Neil Williams crashing the Stampe in 1965.

I seem to recall that Lightning's did operate from there for shows. That goes back to when the Coltishall TFF provided the aircraft for displays, they used the F.1A version, so a lightweight one.

They did, operating from the far end of the runway

Before my time then, I'd have loved to have seen that. Any idea what year(s)?

Here's one for the Starfighter lovers :). Again, it is Biggin Hill 1975 from the times when displaying over the crowd was acceptable! I'm sorry it is a poor shot but my old Zenith E with her Photax (?) 400mm manual telephoto was all I had!

Four more. The first two are also from 1975 while the last two are, again, from my first Biggin (as a 3 year old!) and taken by my dad

I am afraid that the pictures of the three Lincolns at Biggin, plus KB-50 with B-66 and Javelin XH874 would have been taken at the 1961 Battle of Britain show not 1962. It was my very first air show and I remember in particular the three Lincolns, RF398, RF461 and WD132 of 151 Sqn.

Thanks for the clarification, mate. You are right, of course. I just checked Scramble it shows 1961 but only two Lincolns! It was still my first Biggin!

All three Lincolns are on Scramble report. The serials have been sorted in number order splitting the third further down the report.

I can't recall if the question has been answered yet, but the last RAF organized Battle of Britain "At Home" Day at Biggin Hill, was on Saturday, 4th September 1976. Highlights included; Lightning, Buccaneer, Harrier and Etendard IV solos. There was also an F-111 3-ship fly through, the Red Arrows and PDF, Vulcan, and Victor flypast with 2 x Phantoms.
