Air Fete 2000 - definitely the wettest

Post by F3 » Tue Aug 04, 2020 9:32 am

As the thread on my previous post has moved onto the following Air Fete in 2000 (none in '99 due to NATO operations against Serbia over Kosovo) I've decided to post coverage of that one which, as someone remarked, was a great show except for the weather. Agreed. Basically it was like April showers on steroids. You might wonder about that given the pics but bear in mind that they were all taken in the sunny intervals between the showers. These allowed coverage of less than half the show but at least included my highlights which were the Austrian AF Draken and the B-2. The former was one of my Top 10 Air Fete displays and I wonder if any of you loggers managed to get the pilot's name? Also am I correct in thinking this was Austria' Air Fete debut as I can't recall any previous attendance.

Another great hark back to Air Fetes. Love the Draken!

Thanks. That's before I set out on the annual AF pilgrimage. I did wonder whether they'd got there as they were one of the IAT regulars back then.

Great shots and way better than my old prints.

Did the Air Fete committee ever publish the total number of the crowd who managed to squeeze into the hangar during the deluge just before lunch?

Not that I'm aware. Altho' I think we managed to get the most people in a Herc since the evacuation of Saigon!
