Oldies at Duxford
Re: Oldies at Duxford
Very nice, not what I was expecting. Thank you.
Re: Oldies at Duxford
Just out of interest what type of aircraft is that second one? How long was it at Duxford?

Saunders-Roe SRA.1. Went from Duxford to Solent Museum (Southampton) 1993 I believe. Google should provide further reading if you're interested. I do know that only three were built of which this is the only survivor.
Re: Oldies at Duxford
As Nighthawke said ! We were travelling home after a days at LHR, decided to pop in just before last entry and was really happy to catch the SARO outside !

Nice photos.
Some of us oldies might have thought these were taken at Staverton.
Now, is it true that one of TG263's engines was used to power Donald Campbell's Bluebird CN7 before that engine was replaced by an Orpheus engine, and a tail added, from Gnat XM691?

Sometimes I talk to myself, then we both laugh and laugh.

Even noisier if one was lucky/unlucky enough been inside it!!! Good to have been an ATC cadet in those far off days!!!. On arrival back at Abingdon, had the starboard tyre burst, runway excursion and some u/c damage. I was second out of it!!!.
Re: Oldies at Duxford
Great memories of the Hastings. As an ATC cadet, back in the very early 70s, I too was lucky enough to experience a trip in a Hastings out of RAF Lindholme. It was delivering newly assigned navigator personnel down to Marham and then up to Leuchars. Circa 5.5 hours in a Hastings was heavy on the ears!! Thanks for sharing.
