Two magnificent types, sadly now gone - but thanks for those great memories.

Always loved Canberras, from an early age 85 Sqd fleet recovering into Binbrook over our house.
Had some incredible visits to Wyton but these are just superb
Thanks for posting

It was a great unit, very busy - we'd routinely fly 30-40 sorties a day if all the squadrons were home and ATC wise challenging with the approach to Alconbury Rwy30 passing virtually over the top of our Rwy09 threshold. We ran a joint RAF/USAF radar approach control which made for some great banter and social as well.

Great stuff- very evocative of a sadly missed era.

Super shots WJ633 reminds me of old USAF colours in the good old days. Terry

Yep, and quite tastefully done. They did have another one the same- WD955 Echo Mike which at the time was the oldest aircraft in service with the RAF apart from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. Don't seem to have a decent picture of it though. I think it was donated to the Norweigan Air Force for their museum.

Beautiful pictures. Bringing back good memories. Wyton always was a great place for photography at both runway ends.
Been there a number of times always hoping to see the Nimrod R1 beside the Canberras.
Cheers,
Ranger

Another cracking post - the standard recently has been amazing
I remember visiting Whyton regularly (as it is close to Alconbury) in the late 80's and remember some of the Canberras carried a Maltese cross on the tail.
