B & W rarities from 60 Yrs ago

Lurking at the bottom of a wooden chest in my late dad's shed was a pile of Recognition Journals from '59 - '61 in surprisingly good condition. I was blown away by some of the pics inside them so thought some of you might be too. 1959 was the year Northrop unveiled the Freedom Fighter so it tends to figure prominently. Back then it was otherwise known as the YF-156! I think the last five would come under the well - hung category. Who 'd have thought the little F-5 could carry so much Ordnance eh Paddyboy!

Cracking post Michael! Why is it that images from that era look better in B+W? You've inspired me to take a look at some old books I have from the 60s/70s to see what was new at the time. Trouble is then you start to feel old.

Great article.
Most surprising thing is that the B52 in the photo...is STILL operating. Either 60-0008 or 09, cannot zoom in enough.
08 at Barksdale.
09 at Minot.

I've never seen a F-104 with a flight refuelling probe before, interesting set.
