OO LA LA & OLE! WADDINGTON SEPTEMBER 1994 (Pic Heavy)

Post by Blue Diamond » Wed Feb 12, 2020 10:47 am

Lost my notes but these are all out of the same batch of slides so pretty sure it was one exercise rather than two. Hopefully someone can confirm or deny my thoughts. Anyway, here we go.

Evoking brilliant memories with this fine collection of shots. Can't help with the details, but very happy to view the amazing variety of types & markings again.
Sorry for stating the obvious, 'those were the days!' :thumb:

BAR's info for FA-97's deployment dates suggest that your photos of the F-16As, EF-18As and 2000Cs were taken sometime between 10/10 and 18/10; all three types were on a joint deployment for 'Showground'/ACMI work. F.1C 12-ZM is recorded as having been deployed from 28/10 to 4/11. My volumes of BAR run out with the 12/94 issue, by which time they were up to October for visitors, so I can't confirm when the AdlA Jags and 2000Ns (and the various one-offs such as the Xingu) were seen, but I suspect it was during 11/94.

One place I wasn't able to go was Waddington when when they used it for the ranges. As I left in 90. But Waddington was great when they had all exercises up there the FFs and FBs etc would come over. A the very low fence

I have the Xingu and NATO 707 plus some of the French logged on 5/10/94 .
Just wondered if anybody has a log for Coningsby for the same day.

Some of the Jag slides have a processing date of 09/94 stamped on the mount but the rest have no date at all. It's looking like the images are from at least two visits in September and October.

That's an incredible log, there used to quite a few annual exercises in the 80's&90's, usually in the Spring/Autumn. I can't the order but; Brilliant Foil, Elder Forest and Mallet Blow come to mind. And then there was Central Enterprise around about May/June, which involved Stateside squadrons - mostly ANG A-7s :)
