Just finished scanning the slides for 1982, the last show of the season was RAF Abingdon which featured a Falklands Theme, selected highlights below:

The OCU Chinook dropped a car from several hundred feet

The flying display concluded with a Hercules demonstrating a mail pick up, it missed at the first attempt and succeeded with the second.

That's a really great line up of two fascinating subjects, the Falklands celebration and the raspberry ripple brigade. I know that the Sea Fury crashed, what became of that Gnat? Splendid pix by the way, thanks for sharing.

Smashing Pics. I used to work at Abingdon in ATC for a couple of years in the mid to late 80s so really nostalgic. Also nice to see an Abingdon display in rare sunshine. Would this have been on the usual BOB September date?
Fond memories as my first RAF posting and flying as a cadet with 6 AEF.
