WWII B&W Selection Box - 2nd Serving

Post by F3 » Thu Dec 26, 2019 9:01 pm

Seeing as it's Xmas here's a second serving from the tin of USAAC recognition slides I found in my late father's garage. Two rarities are the pre-war Martin B-10 bombers (predecessor to the B-17 in USAAC service) and the Brewster Buccaneer, which I had nt even heard of before coming across this slide. Apparently it was about as successful as the better known Buffalo but the British Purchasing Commission placed a substantial order for the type (called the Bermuda in RAF service) for which no use could be found, unlike the P-40 (called the Kittyhawk by the RAF) and the Avenger which gave useful service. The Baltimore, Mariner and AT-6 were also operated by the RAF, the last being named the Harvard.

My Dad flew Baltimores then Bostons, as the RAF named the Havoc in North Africa.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.
